METROPOLITAN ESSEX DISTRICT CRICKET BOARD Officers
Essex Women’s Cricket Association
To District Board
Committee, As part of the Essex County Cricket Board, the Women’s Cricket Association has had to submit a three year development plan to the ECB outlining the target areas for women and girls cricket. Included within the development plan is a section on the proposals for Girls district cricket, which is as follows:
The area that is the initial focus for the EWCA and ECCB is the first point – District Coaching Centres. The EWCA in close liaison with the five district boards would like to set up a coaching centre within each area. These coaching centres would be advertised to girls in Schools and Clubs within the board. The current model for the District Coaching Centres is as follows: · Six to Eight number sessions · 1 hour to 1½ hours in length · Age Group – school years 5,6,7 and 8 (Under 13’s) · Open to all girls within the district – beginners upwards. This can obviously be adapted as each board sees fit.
At present the Central Board have progressed their coaching
centre to the point of arranging a venue, having a lead coach in place and will
be starting the sessions on
12 October 2008. They are
currently preparing to advertise. The EWCA can provide initial funding of £500 to pay for the hire of facilities and payment of coaches expenses, but we will be looking to the district boards to arrange the venue, coaches and advertising. Prior to the Coaching centres starting in the winter the EWCA would like to invite all the district boards and the clubs with Women and Girls sections to a meeting to promote these projects. We will be contacting everyone beforehand to notify the date and time of this. We would be grateful if you could discuss this at your board meetings to see if you can begin to organise a Coaching Centre. Please feel free to contact me as I’m happy to discuss anything on this. Yours sincerely
