Coaches Courses

We have entered a period of change in the way Cricket Coaches are trained and developed in the UK, the catalyst being the UK Coaching Certificate.

The old Level One course has been replaced on 1st April as below.  It is important that before applying for the Coach Award (which is basically almost equivalent to Level 2) that you feel you will be at a suitable level of your coaching career to attend.

It is possible to attend the Coach Award (UKCC2) without having attended the Coaching Assistant (UKCC1) course but all applications via this route will be monitored by the Course Administrator.  This to ensure that the candidates have the correct level of experience etc to be able to successfully undertake a demanding course and not waste their fee.

Coach Award (UKCC2) – basically equivalent to the old Level Two

Aimed at people who have considerable experience of playing cricket and/or have highly developed teaching/coaching skills.  The course content is demanding and consists of 8 modules (we intend to run two modules each day) and there will be tasks/assignments between various modules.

Coaching Assistant (UKCC1) – basically equivalent to the old Level One

A new course has been developed and potential tutors will be attending training soon.  This essentially replaces the old Level One course and is aimed at people who have less experience in playing cricket and are looking to acquire coaching skills to help them develop young cricketers at their Clubs.  This course is seen as the entry point to basic cricket coaching skills.  Our first course will be run in October 2005 as above

Please note that in addition to successfully passing either course, to receive a formal certificate, successful attendance on  Good Practice and Child Protection and First Aid workshops plus an acceptable CRB check must be in evidence (certificates are issued for all these and must be exhibited)  Each of the currently have a three year shelf life and as long as they have more than one year to run when you take the course, pre-attended workshops will be acceptable (subject to your exhibiting the certificates)

I hope that the above will act as a guide to your possible entry point but please do not hesitate to discuss with me or Graham Jelley on 01245 254026 if you are unsure as to which course is for you.
